Pasgeld Connects

The landscape of Pasgeld and its surroundings has a rich cultural history. The area has evolved over time from a monofunctional agricultural area to a city outskirts. The area is characterized by a strong variety of city and landscape. The green areas in the landscape are very isolated and above all have an intrinsic quality. The plan area is isolated on the north and west side by the railways and the highway. This has resulted in a landscape that is highly fragmented.

Flux proposes a new robust landscape framework in which the framework forms a solid counterweight to the urbanization in the area and it logically connects all the existing qualities in the area. The concept for the landscape framework consists out of the existing green areas in the area, which is expanded into a solid landscape framework by developing a number of characteristic lines, each of which has its own landscape characteristics. All walking, cycling and skating routes are included into the framework that connect all the different important places in the area in a natural way. The water system is adjusted and integrated into the framework, in which all the rainwater is being collected and filtered. Within the landscape framework, a number of clear building fields are formed that all have an address at the landscape framework. In the building fields the landscape qualities form the basis for further urban development.
